More of These = More Success

Copy of Untitled (4)

So your driving around running the errands on your list, listening to your latest audio book, and you literally suck in a breath of air and say "Ouch."

Don't worry, nothing happened to the car or any animals.

Does that ever happen to you?

Do you ever hear or learn something about you or your business and it kind of takes the wind right out of you?

The reason for that visceral reaction is because you know exactly what you need to apply it to your life.  It may be a good thing or a really hard thing, but either way it's clear as day what needs to happen or why it's happening.

I'm currently reading the classic, "The Four Hour Work Week" by Tim Ferriss.  Not only is it filled with tips, tools and resources to help you be more productive, but he's quite the character.  I often find myself laughing out loud at his dry, sarcastic sense of humor.

Early in the book he mentions,

"The more successful people are, the more difficult conversations they have."

Boom.

Ouch.

Ugh.

As a non-confrontational person, this one resonated big time.  I like to keep the peace. (After all, I do have a strong 9 tendency on the Enneagram and am an Introvert.) I don't like to challenge people or ruffle anyones tutu.

And yet.

And yet, if my crazy big ass goals are going to happen, difficult conversations have to be part of the equation.  In fact, a bigger part of the equation.  Building a brand, growing a business, working with employees, working with vendors, contractors, landlords, or even navigating personal relationships will all involve hard conversations.

Does that mean one launches forward into, "Hey buddy, so I noticed that you didn't do ..."

Um, no.  Or at least not for me.  But what this does mean for this business owner is that difficult conversations are part of the deal, so I must embrace it and learn to do it with grace.

So where do you need to have a hard conversation?  Is it with an employee? A landlord, your partner or with the cable company?

 Now take a deep breath: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. And Go!

You got this!
