Ep. 246: How to Give (and Respond to) Exceptional Google Reviews Without Losing Them

Podcast Episodes (MB) (39)

Episode #246

Last week, a surprise landed on my doorstep—a gift so perfectly me it had me laughing until tears streamed down my face.

Inside was:
🍸 A huge bottle of Grey Goose vodka (for dirty martinis)
🍯 A large bottle of honey (for my coffee, of course)
⛽ A Kwik Trip gift card (because, let’s face it, every Wisconsinite loves Kwik Trip).

Whoever sent it knew me well.

The card? Unsigned.
After exhausting my very short list of suspects, I narrowed it down to one person:
A friend.
A boy.
No longer in my life.

So… how to respond? (Spoiler: I sent a thank you note with a playful “you forgot the olives!”)

This got me thinking: the way we respond to thoughtful gestures—whether gifts or glowing reviews—matters. And if you’re a business owner, responding to a great Google review wrong can have unintended consequences, like having it taken down.

In this week’s podcast episode, I share how to:
✨ Write standout Google reviews that make businesses shine.
✨ Respond to reviews properly to keep them safe from Google’s removal policies.

We’ll cover:
✅ How mirroring the reviewer’s words can make your response more impactful.
✅ What NOT to do—like oversharing personal details that could flag privacy concerns.

Whether you’re leaving reviews, responding to them, or just spreading goodwill this season, this episode has actionable tips to help you navigate it all with grace.

🎙 Listen now—and make sure every review and response strengthens your relationships.

Cheers (with or without olives),
